LogiPharma USA 2025: What Were the Standout Trends?

With over 700 attendees and standing-room-only master classes, Malenfant emphasized the strong industry engagement and the event’s ability to attract professionals from diverse company sizes and both clinical and commercial supply chain functions.

Looking back over two decades, Malenfant pointed out how the industry and the conference itself have evolved. In the early years, the sector was heavily male dominated, but today, greater female representation is evident across attendees and leadership roles. He credited Logipharma for broadening its reach and relevance, adapting to trends, and becoming, in his view, the premier global conference for pharmaceutical supply chain leaders.

For Malenfant, the continued growth of Logipharma is a testament to its ability to remain timely and relevant, bringing together a community that is both tackling current challenges and preparing for future transformations in supply chain management.

What have been some of the trends that have stood out at this year’s conference?

 AI, artificial intelligence, and how that plays into the whole area of supply chain, the integrated supply chain, the problem with AI. And we have a lot of discussions on AI. We're going to talk, I've got a moderating a panel that's going to talk about digital transformation and AI and but we have to be careful when you have an agenda that's really in a trend like AI, that we don't forget about the people and try and understand that it takes a new organization, A different kind of skill set in order to manage the trend of AI and other technologies that are coming forth. But AI is by far the number one trend that's going to dominate this year, obviously, and it's going to dominate 2026 and I think it's going to dominate through to 2030.

LogiPharma USA 2025: The Conference's Development Over 20 Years

With LogiPharma USA celebrating 20 years, how have you seen it develop over the years?

When LogiPharma first came out, there were not a lot of women, and it was a very male dominated industry. And we've evolved where, if you notice the crowd now, a lot of women. Finally, we've got a lot of women that are coming into the industry, WBR and LogiPharma has done a really good job of trying to embrace as many different companies, small, medium, large, and in folks that are really concentrated on both the clinical side and on the commercial side of supply chain. And I've seen it grow and then drop off because of Covid. And now this is by far the largest that they've had, and the subject matter the very relevant, the content in the on the agenda is always very relevant for the trends and for the happenings of the time that's coming up. So I think, you know, they've really evolved to becoming, in my opinion, the premier conference for the pharmaceutical industry.

You have quite a busy slate here at LogiPharma. Could you offer up a sneak peek of what to expect?

I'm amazed of how many people we've got here. It's over 700 and I know I've been doing these master classes now at LogiPharma and LogiMed for years, and yesterday, my master class was standing room only, which is really encouraging, and it's exciting as well, that that we're having so many people from the industry coming together. I've got the pleasure of managing a track, being the chair of a track which is on people, which is my passion, because, if you notice, the agenda is very heavy, on a lot of technology. And so I have the opportunity of facilitating the track that's going to be on people. We're going to talk about diversity, inclusion and equity. The panelists on that on are very, very well versed in it. We're going to also talk about trade compliance. That's a real hot subject right now, but not enough time to cover everything that needs to come into it. So, it's an exciting event. I'm really, really pleased, especially for the 20th anniversary.

LogiPharma 2025: Ramifications of a 100% Tariff on Branded and Patented Drugs Entering The US

What are the ramifications of a 100% tariff on branded or patented drugs entering the US?

 Well, it's interesting you bring that up because there's been a couple of announcements in the last week of large pharmaceutical companies moving their manufacturing from Europe and bringing it to the United States. I forget which company off the top of my head that announced they're building a manufacturing facility in Austin, TX. I know that my former employer, Alcon, is bringing back manufacturing that's being done in Belgium and in France, so I think the ramification is going to be more manufacturing in the United States. I also believe that the 100% is not going to be there forever. I think it's part of the negotiation of really getting the US pharmaceutical companies to start driving more manufacturing in the United States, or at least, think about how are we going to bring it to the United States. We also have to keep in mind that the concern with 100% is that it could cause temporary shortages, and this morning, we had a panel that talked about shortages, and the 100% that's going to kick in Oct. 1, that could cause temporary shortages because of the reluctance of the companies to import the drugs. But I do think it's going to accelerate moving more production to the United States.
