Clondalkin Group Acquires Catalent's Printed Components Business

Amsterdam, Netherlands-based Clondalkin, a billion-dollar manufacturer of flexible and specialist packaging, has purchased Catalent Pharma Solutions’ Printed Components business for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition adds Catalent’s printing facilities in the US, Puerto Rico and Dublin, Ireland to Clondalkin’s network of 14 “pharmaceutical packaging approved” plants in Europe and North America. In announcing the deal, Catalent noted that Printed Components has been a $100-million/year business for the company; with the acquisition, Clondalkin’s annual turnover in pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging will be $340 million/yr, representing 28% of overall revenue.

The deal includes a longterm supply agreement under which Catalent will continue to provide printed components as part of its commercial packaging services.
