Facility maintains the company’s cold-chain air containers, even as it assists in disaster recovery
It’s tough to hold a grand opening ceremony in the aftermath of a natural disaster, but CSafe Global has a special reason for doing so: its RKN and RAP air-cargo containers are being used to move temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals into and out of Puerto Rico. That territory was still recovering from last year’s Hurricane Maria when it was hit recently by a series of earthquakes. CSafe has been involved in disaster recovery there, chartering air flights into the country bringing needed supplies, as well as contributing to relief efforts.
The grand opening was to commemorate the near-tripling of the CSafe station in San Juan, now a 31,000 sq.-ft service center, to accommodate the ongoing demand for CSafe’s specialized containers for pharmaceutical shipments to more than 100 countries. In addition to staging shipments being loaded at the international airport, the facility also performs a preventive maintenance protocol to ensure consistent performance of the containers.
“As with all of our service centers, this new facility will ensure our RKN and RAP containers operate at top system performance, keep temperatures precisely where they need to be for our customers’ life-saving cargo,” said Tom Weir, VP of global operations.
“CSafe is committed to customers, employees and to the communities where we operate,” added interim CEO Patrick Schafer.
