Now, per the partnership, urgent care patients will be able to order prescriptions during their visit, automatically apply any eligible manufacturer discounts, and receive fast, convenient delivery, which in some locations could include same-day service.
“Collaborating with Amazon Pharmacy is a milestone moment, not just for Experity, but for the future of on-demand healthcare,” said Adrian Agostini, Experity’s CRO. “This brings together two powerhouses redefining how care is delivered, and it’s a tangible step in connecting retail-level convenience with clinical excellence.”
Improving treatment adherence through faster fulfillment
A Journal of Urgent Care Medicine study1 featuring urgent care Rxs concluded that patients who enrolled in same-day-visit dispensing experience a significantly lower rate of prescription abandonment, including 2% abandonment versus 23% when the prescription was filled at a community pharmacy.
“When patients choose delivery through Amazon Pharmacy, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers to starting treatment, which is sheer access,” said Andrea Giamalva, MD, Experity’s Chief Medical Officer. “Fifteen percent of urgent care call volume is pharmacy-related, often requiring clinic staff to troubleshoot medication availability options for patients, resend prescriptions, or switch pharmacies altogether. All of which consume valuable time and create unnecessary friction for the patient and delay disease treatment.”
Amazon Pharmacy’s role in streamlining digital workflows
With timing being everything as the old adage goes, nearly 50% of US customers are anticipated to be provided the same-day delivery options with Amazon Pharmacy, with those enrolled in Amazon Prime members qualifying for the free two-day med delivery.
“We’ve built a transparent, customer-obsessed pharmacy experience that eliminates unnecessary wait times and gives customers clear visibility into prescription costs before they buy, and makes it simple to start treatment, ” said Tanvi Patel, VP & GM, Amazon Pharmacy. “By integrating Amazon Pharmacy into Experity’s Urgent Care Partner Ecosystem, we’re reducing delays and friction between diagnosis and first dose, fundamentally transforming how quickly customers can begin their treatment and recovery journey.”
Amazon Pharmacy is the latest company to join the Partner Ecoystem, after also recently welcoming Zocdoc, a online platform that connects patients with HCPs. As of now, the partner count stands at four, with more expected to be announced Q1 of 2026.
Amazon Pharmacy kiosks expand medication pickup options
As for Amazon Pharmacy, this December, the tech giant will be officially unveiling self-service kiosks that are expected to provide One Medical patients—those who are enrolled in the company’s healthcare service that offers both virtual and in-person primary care—with a way to sidestep a visit to a conventional pharmacy by allowing them to pick up their prescribed meds at their doctor’s office.2
These aforementioned kiosks will initially roll out to One Medical locations in California, including:
- Downtown Los Angeles
- West Los Angeles
- Long Beach
- Beverly Hills
- West Hollywood
The overall process, according to the e-commerce juggernaut, is quite simple:
- Create a free Amazon Pharmacy account at pharmacy.amazon.com.
- Schedule an appointment at a participating One Medical location, and ask your HCP to send your prescription to Amazon Pharmacy.
- Once you’re at the checkout page in the Amazon app, select “kiosk pickup” and pay with the method of your choice.
- At this point, you’ll receive a QR code that will allow you pick up your meds within minutes.
“By closing the loop between diagnosis, prescription, and treatment, Amazon Pharmacy Kiosks represent an important step in Amazon Health Services’ mission to make health care simpler, more accessible, and more customer-centric,” the release added. “Looking ahead, the technology has the potential to dramatically improve medication access across diverse health care settings and bring pharmacy services directly to patients when and where they need them most.”
