LogiPharma Europe 2025: Being a Part of an AI-Powered E2E Supply Chain

A keynote presentation describes how supply chain visibility should rely on digital capabilities.

“To move at speed, you need to partner with people that are better than you.” This was just one of several memorable quotes from Ruth Beadle, Sanofi’s head of global supply chain during her LogiPharma Europe keynote presentation on “Chasing the Miracles of Science to Improve People’s Lives: How to Become an End-to-End Supply Chain Powered by AI.”1

Her objectives during the session were to dive into her company’s simplification and segmentation approaches for the global supply chain, while exploring how AI can lead to more game-changing capabilities; how Sanofi enabled end-to-end (E2E) orchestration from patient to supplier; what is necessary in order to become a data-driven organization; and more.

Sanofi is currently present in 70 countries, with 50 manufacturing sites and 12 R&D facilities. Its meds and vaccines are currently available in 180 countries, and its goal is to become the world’s leading immunology company.

Beadle discussed what she believes are the seven foundational pillars for supply chain modernization, including:

  1. Segmentation
  2. Integrated business planning
  3. Demand planning
  4. Advanced planning systems
  5. Customer excellence
  6. Advanced analytics
  7. People capabilities & operations

When it comes to advanced planning systems, digital capabilities are imperative for true E2E orchestration of the supply chain, which can result in full visibility for a complex network, reduced human error, and a single source of truth.

In fact, a piece of tech helping with those efforts is pIAI.supply, an app developed with artificial intelligence (AI) platform company Aily Labs that delivers real-time, reactive data interactions and gives a 360° view across all Sanofi activities.2 The app is intended to assist with not only providing that aforementioned E2E visibility, but also serve an “inventory optimizer,” while also offering insight and recommendation.

However, successfully harnessing this data is easier said than done.

“The lesson I have learned in the last couple of years is try it, start it, use it, improve the data. Is it good enough to proceed? Can you actually start a discussion, and can you share the data? Because the power of sharing the data means you have a collective decision,” Beadle mentioned. “It brings honesty to the discussion, and it brings transparency—democratizing the data is what we like to call it—ultimately, it's about bringing it to your routines”
