Hear how “delivery intelligence” is transforming the last mile of pharmaceutical logistics from Jay McHarg, CEO of AeroSafe Global.
Sponsored by AeroSafe Global
Jay McHarg, CEO of AeroSafe Global, discusses how pharmaceutical supply chains are evolving to support advanced therapies. McHarg introduces the concept of “delivery intelligence”—a strategy designed to redefine success in the last mile of delivery by viewing it as the beginning of patient care rather than the end of logistics. He notes that pharmaceutical executives are aware of supply chain challenges but are constrained by outdated infrastructure, including reliance on 70-year-old Styrofoam packaging technology and fragmented vendor models that separate packaging, logistics, and operations.
McHarg calls for a coordinated, technology-enabled approach that extends product protection for longer durations, integrates directly with carriers such as FedEx and UPS to enable real-time interventions, and incorporates operational planning to prevent deliveries when facilities are closed. He emphasizes that such an integrated system is essential to reduce the industry’s current 2–3% daily product loss caused by temperature excursions or delayed deliveries.
